Beyond the Menu with Chef Brent Young of The Meat Hook, Whitfield and Rippers

Come early to enjoy our brunch fare, have a drink and learn more about the space. The featured speaker will begin at 2pm.

Pittsburgh born, now Brooklyn based, Brent is the butcher and restaurateur behind Rippers, a Far Rockaway beach joint, The Meat Hook, and Whitfield at Ace Hotel in East Liberty, PA. Brent will share how he helped shape the Whitfield to be noted as one of the country’s best restaurants in the country noted by Bon Appétit in 2016. He’ll also share trends and experiences that are shaping his culinary experience and help us try to define what an inclusive food scene can be for our region.

Sarah Sudar, of EatPGH will host this talk. EatPGH is one of the most popular food blogs in the Western Pennsylvania region.

Sarah is passionate about two food groups: cupcakes and french fries, and isn’t afraid to order dessert and coffee after a huge meal. She received her master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication (along with Julia) in 2011 and is happy to report that she is actually using her degree wisely. When she isn’t writing about food, she can be found in the gym trying to burn off some of those extra cupcake calories.
